Other plots on the Dark side
- THE AGENDA OF LUC / ISAM / SLAYER:
- [Vol.2] The Dark Prophecy found on the wall at Fal Dara keep mentioned that "Luc
met Isam in the high passes" and they merged.
One of them died. This is interesting because there is another prophecy that
Rand and Lews Therin will merge, and one will die.
Lord Luc was Tigraine's brother (Rand's uncle), sent to the Blight by Gitara Moroso.
As a child, Isam would have become the crown prince of Malkier,
if not for Lan's claim to the throne. Isam and his envious mother, Breyan,
were abducted by Trollocs and taken into the Blight.
- [Vol.4] Janduin, an Aiel clan chief and Rand's true father, went to the Blight
after his wife Shaiel (Tigraine) died, where he was slain by Luc / Isam.
He did not lift a hand to fight because the creature looked like his deceased wife.
- [Vol.4] Paidan Fain claimed that he controlled Isam during his attack on the Two Rivers.
- [Vol.9] According to Demandred, Slayer had been set to hunt and
kill Paidan Fain. That obviously didn't work. Luc / Isam
spied on Nynaeve, Elayne, and Egwene in tel'aran'rhiod.
- [Vol.9] Luc and Isam are two distinctly separate personalities
who can only exist one at a time. They are aware of each other,
and share common goals. This double entity (known as Slayer)
can travel via tel'aran'rhiod. He renders services to
Darkfriends (and the Forsaken especially), and is much sought
after as a sort of assassin. He cannot channel. As a Dreamwalker, he may be able to
predict the future.
- [Vol.9] Slayer murdered two Aes Sedai in the Stone of Tear, when Rand
took it over. These must have been Joiya and Amico, the Black Ajah. He
also killed "a Gray Man in the White Tower." Why were these murders committed?
Whose agenda is being followed?
- [Vol.9] It seems Slayer yearns to kill Rand. The current master of
Slayer is most likely Moridin (Ishamael), because he seems to be the only
Forsaken who is not eager to kill Rand.
- [Vol.9] Based on the late explanation of mysterious deaths, it is possible that
Slayer was ordered to kill Ispan (and Adeleas).
- MYSTERIES OF PAIDAN FAIN:
- [Vol.1, p.289 pb] Jeraal Mordeth from Shadar Logoth led
the first Children of Light. Mordeth apparently merged with Fain . . . and
Fain has made connections with the Children of Light.
- [Vol.2] Why does Rand keep vanishing from Paidan Fain's senses?
Does this happen whenever Rand reaches for saidin?
- [Vol.2] During Nynaeve's Accepted test, she faced a new and
horrendous Wisdom in Emond's Field named Malena. If this vision becomes real,
Malena may appear as part of Paidan Fain's intended corruption of the Two Rivers,
which he threatened wasn't over with.
- [Vol.2] How, exactly, did Paidan Fain control Machin Shin?
Robert Jordan was quoted as saying that it is kin with Mordeth. See
"WoT" Happened? for more details.
- [Vol.4] Paidan Fain hints that he may destroy the Two Rivers
the way Aridhol was destroyed; by rampant greed. Will
he wait until the Two Rivers is a city as a great as Manetheren?
- [Vol.9] Paidan Fain killed Kisman, Torval, and Gedwyn in Far Madding, leaving only Rochaid for
Rand to kill. He lusts for a one-on-one duel with Rand.
- [Vol.9] Did Fain create the illusion in Far Madding? See
"WoT" Happened? for more details.
- [Vol.9] Paidan Fain fled from Rand in Far Madding. Was it because
he felt outnumbered with Lan there, or was it because Rand had wounded him?
Was he afraid of being put in a dungeon by the street guards? Or is he just biding
his time for a perfect one-on-one duel with Rand?
- [Vol.10] Perrin and Mat have begun to see hallucinations of walking dead people, similar to the
illusion Rand saw in Far Madding. It seems likely that these illusions are somehow connected
with Fain. It seems he is growing stronger, or perhaps the effect of the dagger is becoming more
potent. Aridhol-like corruption has claimed the town of So Habor, where Perrin saw the
walking dead.
- ELZA PENFELL:
- [Vol.9] Thanks to Verin, Elza Penfell--a Black Ajah--has
sworn fealty to Rand. Now she serves under Cadsuane.
- [Vol.9] Elza killed Corlan Dashiva, via her link with Jahar Narishma and Callandor.
She was unaware that Dashiva was actually Osan'gar (Aginor), one of her
"Chosen" superiors. I see a few possibilities with this thread:
1) Elza is tortured by Darkfriends until she realizes that Verin wove Compulsion
on her, and then is either released, or escapes to tell all the other Tower sisters
what horrible crime Verin committed.
Verin will then need Rand's protection.
2) Whichever Forsaken specifically controls Elza (Mesaana etc.) assumes that
she killed Aginor on purpose, and raises her status for killing off such a strong
a competitor.
3) The Forsaken make Elza realize that she was under a Compulsion spell, and
then use her as a spy and tool to watch Verin, watch Rand, and perhaps convert
Harine (the future Mistress of the Ships) to the Shadow.
4) The Forsaken ask Elza for an insider's report, and she gets killed for betrayal.
5) The Darkfriends remain unaware who killed Aginor, and Elza continues to
protect Rand in her strange way.
- DARKFRIENDS AND CREATURES AT LARGE:
- [Vol.2] As a Darkfriend, why wasn't Ingtar ordered to kill
the Dragon Reborn, should the opportunity arise? See
"WoT" Happened?
for more details.
- [Vol.5] Moghedien gave orders to Liandrin's circle which Liandrin
was deaf to. Apparently these orders have something to do with
capturing Nynaeve, because Eldreith, Chesmal, Asne, and the others are
now sneaking about Caemlyn, attempting to do just that. It seems
they are unsure what to do with Nynaeve once she is captured.
Moghedien has not revisited their unit.
- [Vol.6] Paitr, a Darkfriend who approached Rand in Vol.1, wheedled himself
into Morgase's life along with another Andoran. Both of them
were hung by Whitecloaks. They were staying with "a man who keeps
pigeons." This man is probably Avi: the Amadician pigeon-keeper who
worked for Ronde Macura; a seamstress and agent for the Yellow Ajah.
- [Vol.6] All six gholam were let loose. One is after Mat in
Ebou Dar. Where are the other five?
- [Vol.8] Katerine Alruddin, an agent of Elaida and secret Black Ajah,
escaped the Aiel in Caemlyn. Some of her captors, including a Wise One, two warriors, and a
gai'shain, were found poisoned and/or killed. Where has she gone to?
- MANIPULATING OR CONTROLLING RAND:
- [Vol.2(?)] Thirteen dreadlords plus thirteen mydraal can turn any
Aes Sedai to the Shadow against her or his will. This may be
the method that Moridin (Ishamael) plans to use on Rand, and therefore
may be why he seems so unconcerned about killing Rand.
- [Vol.7] Moridin (Ishamael), Mazrim Taim, and Alviarin are manipulating
people into supporting Rand. Is this part
of the "chaos" the Dark One is sowing? Do they aim to speed
Rand's impending insanity? Or are they attaching strings with which to manipulate him?
- [Vol.7] A mystery man helped Rand to survive and kill Sammael in
Shadar Logoth. He said that he didn't care to see Rand die "that day."
Given the fact that Moridin (Ishamael) uses the
True Power rather than the One Power, and Rand could not feel his mysterious
helper channeling, it is likely that this mysterious helper was Moridin.
In addition, Moridin consciously let Nynaeve, Elayne, and Aviendha live while
they were in Ebou Dar, although he toyed with the idea of killing them.
His long-term goal is probably to turn Rand to the Shadow. He may
attempt to earn Rand's trust by patiently constructing an alter-ego using the
Mask of Mirrors, and showing up to aid Rand at crucial moments during battles.
Or maybe he just wanted Sammael dead at that moment.
- [Vol.9] The a'dam meant to control male channelers is now in Seanchan hands--and
Darkfriend hands. Egeanin picked up the a'dam when she made Bayle Domon
her so'jhin, and she was commanded to give it to High Lady Suroth.
This makes for the possibility that Rand will be enslaved by Seanchan. The male a'dam requires
two sul'dam to operate it. Will Mat have to
save Rand, with a gamble that involves his left eye and/or two Aes Sedai?
- [Vol.10] Although Tuon has been traveling for quite a while with Mat, the High Lady Suroth
recently invited the Dragon Reborn to come and meet the Daughter of Nine Moons.
Suroth is a Darkfriend and Anath is probably Semirhage . . . add to that the fact that Egwene has
recently had two prophetic dreams that the Seanchan will attack Tar Valon . . . and this is
almost certainly a trap which involves the male a'dam.
