Thomas Hill has lived thousands of lifetimes by absorbing other people's memories,
but he's trapped inside his handicapped, eleven-year-old body. He began his existence in a minor
supporting role to Alexander (see below), but has grown to become the main protagonist. |
 |
Thomas feels utter disgust for humanity. You'd probably
feel the same way if you were a mind reader. |
 |
This is a scene where silent Servants of All (see below) are escorting
Thomas away from his friends and towards his new life of luxury and slave ownership. |
 |
Alexander Dovanack is a reclusive giant, and a major target of
the Torth Empire (see below). |
 |
This is an upshot, because that's how other characters generally see Alexander. I seem to have a habit of drawing really
grim expressions on protagonists, but he's a light-hearted optimist at heart. |
 |
The Commander of All Living Things is the active ruler of the Torth Empire.
In addition to the usual Torth abilities (telepathy, access to unlimited knowledge,
mastery over slaves and spacefaring technology), she literally has the power to
kill with a thought. |
 |
The title of Commander of All Living Things is the highest rank a Torth
can ever hope to attain. With this great power, however, comes great responsibility. She is
constantly aware of her duty to her people. If she fails them, they'll torture her to death. |
 |
This is a Servant of All, one of the elite minions of the
Commander of All Living Things. Years of training, a superior intellect, and
physical prowess are just some of the requisites for attaining her status. |
 |
Margot, Cherise, and Rhianna (pictured in the thumbnail) are
friends and family members of Alex and Thomas, abducted by the Torth and made into slaves.
They're not sure who to blame for their condition yet, but they're getting quite angry.
|
 |
I tend to do better writing male protagonists, so I was
pleasantly surprised by Evenjos, a mentally unstable, half-telepathic seductress.
She'll play a major role during the middle and end of the series. |
 |
Kehsa has survived to old age, a rare feat among slaves to the Torth.
Despite the veneration she's earned, she longs for freedom without even being aware of her
longing. She worries that her life is empty and meaningless. |
 |
Bottom left and bottom right: These are some early concepts of Thomas Hill
and his human friend, Cherise Chavez. |
 |
Umdalkdans work on slave farms and factories, or personally serve their
Torth masters. Many of them lose their sense of reality and hope and enter a state of catalepsy
which earns them the name "dreamer". |
 |
Like us, Umdalkdans have ethnicities.
Their height, beak size, and skin color differs according to their region of origin. |
 |
The humanoid Alashani people have been
mercilessly persecuted for more than 6,000 years, so they tend to be war-like and defensive.
The Umdalkdans have been slaves for so long, they've become timid, and courage is rare among them. |
 |
Here's a cartoony drawing of a Nebkurnian, one of the armored giants used as guards
by the Torth. |
 |
This is an early concept design for the Mer Nerctans, who have the ability to
grow and discard bodies almost the way snakes shed and re-grow skin. |
 |
Mer Nerctans don't generally go about naked, but this
is another early concept design. They are intelligent and may live as long as 500 years, but they are
also slaves to the Torth. |
 |
Govid can use their limbs as both hands and feet.
Although their planet of origin was destroyed by the Torth, they've managed to survive as useful slaves. |

Alien animal 1: This is a non-intelligent beast, native to the planet Umdalkdul. |

Alien animal 2: Sketch page, including an alien animal and Casey Jr.
(Casey done by Spencer, age 6) |

Alien animals 3: Sketch page, including a girl and some gaseous aliens. |
 |
Alashani language: During the conception of my project, I came up with
several alien languages, and a writing system for one of them.
This language key was written on parchment.
You may see some similarity to
Hebrew cursive and
Japanese Katakana;
I based it on the characters of those languages, and added my own twistiness. Unlike any
human language,
Alashani can be written diagonally as well as horizontally.
The pretzel letters are silly, I admit, but I was running out of loops and curves. |
 |
Umdalkdul map: This planet is located approximately 53 light-years from
our solar system.
Older than Earth,
it has only a single ocean and a single super-continent (like
Pangaea).
This map shows provinces, major cities, and features of interest. Much of the action in my saga
is based on a city near the center of the map. |
